Remove the Cause of Your Psoriasis Symptoms - You cannot change your genes but you can change how they react
Your Psoriasis Itch and Rash, Psoriatic Arthritis, will stop once you understand what causes Psoriasis and follow the simple guidelines. Most processed foods, soft drinks, etc. can affect you. You have to learn to avoid the foods that affect you - It's all about learning to eat healthily.
I had suffered with Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis for many years but seeing medical practitioners and naturopaths had not helped so I set out to help myself. Removing all gluten products from my diet was the first step I took.
My health showed signs of improvement but I was still getting psoriasis and arthritis (itch, skin rash and joint swelling and pain).
The next step was to go on a diet that was natural, avoiding all processed foods ie. I ate only meat, fish, vegetables, fruits and drank water. Only when I strictly adhered to this diet did my psoriasis clear up. It became quite obvious that processed foods were somehow responsible.
After my psoriasis had completely cleared for several weeks I introduced foods that were processed. Soft drinks and fruit juices were added first and after each challenge my psoriasis flared up again. After stopping the intake and going back on the natural diet (meat, fish, vegetables, fruit and water) my psoriasis again cleared up.
The most common additives I found in the soft drinks were citric acid or food acid (330 food additive code) and ascorbic acid (300) vitamin C. Interestingly, my psoriasis first flared up when I was taking calcium ascorbate (vitamin C) as a vitamin supplement to aid my recovery from an accident (1986).
My next step was obvious, not wanting to be a guinea pig but needing to know the answer, I stuck to natural foods until my psoriasis had cleared again Psoriasis free, I tried adding some calcium ascorbate and was covered in psoriasis in a very short time.
After repeating the clearing program and then rechallenging myself with Calcium Ascorbate Vitamin C, Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C and Citric Acid (food acid) I began to understand what was happening. Over the next 10 years of researching and experimenting I realised that I had found another answer to my problems. Calcium Protease
It became obvious whilst on my elimination diet that a glass of wine, soft drink, cereals, or the many other processed foods would cause my psoriasis to flare. The only thing l could find in common was that they all have the citric added such as food acid (330), citric acid (330), ascorbic Acid (300), calcium ascorbate (e302), sodium ascorbate (301). All of these are premeditated with calcium. It is also interesting to note, l noticed whilst on diet was that fruit like oranges, strawberries, could start me itching again. Especially after using 4 oranges or a punnet of strawberries in making fruit juice.
Moderation is the key and maybe this is why some fruit may have affect on your psoriasis. Especially whilst you are still eating those foods with acrylamide.
Applying Gypsum to increase calcium levels of soils has been practised for many years. Methods to apply calcium and sulphate sulphur to the soil offering an instant response have been refined. Growers say that calcium is needed to strengthen cell walls, increase flowering resulting in better fruit set and higher yields and better shelf life.
Talking with friends and relatives I found that many people had psoriasis and the conventional medical treatments and drugs had not helped them. Consequently I began to suggest that they try to avoid the food additives and foods which affected my condition…
Psoriasis should be renamed Calcium Protease,
a much better descriptive word than psoriasis (itch as is). Calcium Protease is exactly what is happening.

More information is available on Calcium Protease- Psoriasis

The Trigger for psoriasis (Calcium Protease) was not known until earlier this year (2002).
The brilliant work by two Swedish Scientists studying some workers occupied in the building of the tunnel at Hallandsåsen. (Who had been exposed to high doses of Acrylamide) To put it short: Because of the similarity of the workers symptoms they decided to test other people not exposed to tunnel incident. Upon finding Acrylamide in others decided to test foods, Further research by the same scientists showed that Acrylamide is the trigger for psoriasis (calcium protea) and a lot more
Research Centres around the World have found that Acrylamide is formed when Glucose (natural sugar found in most foods) is heated with Asparagine (Amino Acid Asparagine also found naturally in foods)
…Those that followed my advice were very pleased. Over time it became obvious that I needed to make the process easier to follow and the following text is the result of that need.
In short, if you always eat what is fresh, in season and if possible ORGANIC, your Psoriasis symptoms should be greatly reduced, and hopefully disappear, as was the case with my research and others.
Treating specific types of Psoriasis through diet
Plague Psoriasis: Most common form of Psoriasis, appears on elbows, knees, lower backs and can spread to cover large areas of torso as well. Sites of local trauma are common sites. Extremely itchy, starting as a white spot growing in size becoming a flake of dead skin surrounded by a ring of redness often wrongly diagnosed as ringworm. It grows to large scaly plague, and bleeds easily if scratched.
The only way l have been able to remove my plague psoriasis is by going on the natural diet and removing those unwanted food additives and foods. At times it covered 50% of my body, and even today, Psoriasis free, l know that if l have those which contained the trigger for Psoriasis it will be back.
A glass of soft drink (or any food with those additives) is enough when eating those trigger foods; it doesn't take much. You must Avoid those foods which contain the trigger for Psoriasis. Be patient, you will noticed the itch goes first then the flakes of dead skin stop forming, the red areas change colour eventually back to normal skin.
Pustular Psoriasis and Plague psoriasis are common with 'Psoriasis of the palms and soles' or Palmoplantar Psoriasis:
My own nails still show abnormal dark lines and ridges. But since l have been on the natural diet the nails have stop growing abnormally, splitting and less thick. Having access to the sea, soaking my feet and hands in saltwater every day gave me relief and also appeared to benefit the healing process. Wearing leather thongs, leather sandals, leather shoes with leather soles and light cotton socks also helps because it allows your feet to air often.
Avoid wearing shoes made with Rubber latex such as sporting shoes and runners. Psoriasis sufferers are prone to Rubber latex allergies (especially those with pustular psoriasis). It is most likely if you have an allergy to rubber latex you will notice a unpleasant odour coming from those shoes that are affecting you. Socks worn with those shoes will smell the same. Also most likely to start with very itchy palms before feet start peeling.
It is best to start afresh avoid wearing those impregnated socks and shoes again, (check your shoes to see if they have rubber latex soles inserts if so avoid wearing them). Washing detergents, soap etc. can aggravate the conditions of your hands, (it's also a good excuse not to do the dishes!)
Acrylamide/Industrial has been noted to cause the feet and hands to peel
Scalp Psoriasis: Large amounts of dandruff are first noticed along with the itchy scalp, sometimes just confined to scalp but can also be part of plague psoriasis. Be aware some shampoos, soaps, etc can aggravate and make your scalp more itchy avoid those with citric acid (330 additive code) and added scents etc. Sunlight soap is recommended. Again, after going on a natural diet your scalp will stop itching and psoriasis will go.
Psoriatic Arthritis: Using the elimination diet, l became painfully aware that the nightshade family was involved in those sharp pain attacks of arthritis. Other research has shown not only gluten (celiac disease) but also the nightshade family is and responsible. (www.noarthritis.com) - Tomatoes can give me a dull ache within four hours and sharp pain attack sets in about 12 hours later, so avoid them. More important the Potato does contain the Trigger for Psoriasis and should be avoided at all times. Today l do not believe l will ever meet a Arthritis or psoriasis Sufferer who won't prove to be a Celiac (www.celiac.com)
Since being on my natural diet and avoiding nightshade foods l haven’t had any attacks of Psoriatic Arthritis, my gout (inflammation of smaller joints) and Inflammatory Spondylitis (inflammation of vertebra) which l had suffered for more than 20 years also has gone. As with other forms of arthritis, cold weather can also be a catalyst for a worsening of the condition, but removing the nightshade family has worked for me and many others.
