How to change your diet
Water is most important for psoriasis sufferers as it does help your immune system to clean out the toxins. The general accepted rule is to try to drink a glass of water for every hour, if needed take bottled water with you when going out.
Coffee Drinkers sorry to mention this but this does interfere with your body abilities to absorb water.
Smokers another very addictive substance to overcome is tobacco. So please keep smoking at least till you have become comfortable with your new diet.
These guidelines should help you:
- Always check labels - it's better to be certain than sorry later. Try to eat what comes FRESH (organic if possible) and not processed. Until Psoriasis has completely healed stay on recommended diet.
Avoid processed foods as much as possible. Stop feeding the cause of Psoriasis and give your body a chance to heal itself simply by eating what is natural food. It is very important to drink plenty of water, as it does assist the healing and removing of toxins.
Only when Psoriasis has completely cleared (be patient, from 2 to 12 weeks seems the average if you adhere strictly to diet) can you reintroduce other foods - that way you will learn to know which food is safe for you. Add one new food a week, giving time for reactions; if safe add the new food to your list. However, most people, after discovering the benefits of this diet will choose to stay on it - it's enjoyable, cheap and nutritious.
(Please take note l do not recommend adding any off those foods which have Acrylamide. Such as gluten products, potatoes, cereals, nightshade family etc.)
Both Sunlight on the skin (induces endogenous vitamin D production) and swimming in salt water can be very beneficial.
Especially those suffering from Psoriatic Arthritis should always avoid the Nightshade Family of foods (Potatoes, Tomatoes, Chilli, Red and Green Peppers, Eggplants, Paprika, Cayenne) and Gluten Products.
Vitamin supplements to be avoided, especially Ascorbic Acid-Vitamin C (Food Additive Code 300) and Calcium Ascorbate (Food Additive Code E302). Also to be avoided: B complex Multivitamins.
The Psoriasis Treatment Diet is rich in natural vitamins and avoids imbalances that are frequently involved with Vitamin supplementation.
